Malta - April 2009
- Maltese customs revised and implemented with immediate effect, the way in which they enforce the EU duty free and duty paid fuel regulations for the marine market

- Privately registered yachts with a non EU flag, exporting the fuel immediately out of the EU will qualify for duty free +VAT
- Privately registered yachts with non EU flag, if remaining in the EU will incur the full duty +VAT fuel price
- Privately registered yachts with an EU member state flag will pay full duty & VAT at all times - without regard to the next port
- This new implementation of the EU directive on duty free and duty paid fuel has been challenged by a number of companies in the Maltese Super Yacht industry and Yacht Fuel Services will advise if there are any developments
Monaco - January 2009
- The Harbour Master now requires a minimum of 48 hours notice before delivery. We request potential requirements are advised as early as possible in order for the supplier to have time to clear with relevant authorities in a timely fashion
- Late notice requirements will be treated on a best endeavours basis

- Duty free (AGO & MGO) fuel is available for private and commercial registrations with a foreign flag if product is being exported out of Montenegro on completion of supply.
- Delivery times are quite restrictive so we advise providing no less than three working days notice however in high season due to demand this should be a week if possible.
26th Feb 2008 - Yacht Fuel Services offer new "CarbonZero" Fuel
Yacht Fuel Services, the world's largest fuel supplier exclusively to Superyachts, are set to offer their customers a new carbon offsetting option in a bid to reduce the environmental impact of luxury yachts. More...
CarbonZero Fuel
As part of our commitment to the environment we have been working with carbon offset company co2balance.com to calculate the amount of carbon dioxide that the fuel we supply to our client’s produces.
Customers will be given the option to then offset this carbon to create CarbonZero Fuel.
Carbon Offsetting Projects in Africa
When you choose to make your fuel CarbonZero, funds will be invested into projects in Africa that will see local communities receive solar and energy efficient ovens. These ovens either replace the firewood that they traditionally use, or significantly reduce the amount that is needed, producing far less carbon emissions than would have otherwise been created. As well as the savings in greenhouse gas emissions there are added spin off benefits, such as saving the user time and money in collecting or buying firewood, as well as health and safety benefits.
How you can buy CarbonZero Fuel
The carbon footprint of the fuel that you buy through Yacht Fuel Services will be calculated through a dedicated carbon calculator that has been created by co2balance.com. You will then have the option to offset this carbon when you pay your invoice by making an additional contribution towards an offset project. To recognise your purchase of CarbonZero Fuel and your contribution to fighting climate change you will receive a personalised certificate via email.
Carbon dioxide and climate change
It is widely accepted amongst meteorologists and scientists that the Earth’s atmosphere is warming, and that carbon dioxide is the main cause of this. Carbon dioxide is an inevitable product of the way we all live today. It is produced primarily through the burning of fossil fuels.
As well as reducing our carbon emissions we can take action to offset our carbon footprint.
co2balance.com helps businesses and individuals to assess the size of their residual carbon footprint and then invests in projects around the world that reduce the emission of, or absorb, an equivalent amount of CO2. Through this process, they balance out their unavoidable emissions and become CarbonZero.
